Tachograph regulations in the United States

Since 2012, there is a law in the United States regulating the use of a tachograph for freight transportation. At January first 2018 the regulation is strict and firm for all truck drivers. The drivers are obliged to send their driving times via an electronic connection. Because many trucks were not yet equipped with the necessary tachographs, these trucks are no longer allowed to drive. In addition, fewer trucks are available because the drivers are forced to adhere to the driving times. This has major consequences for the tariffs and waiting times before containers are unloaded in the United States.

As a result of the increase in demand in the market, as well as various movements of the shipping companies (including changes in alliances, coupled with new sailing schedules), there is a lack of capacity on container ships to the US.
Sailing schedules can be tight and/ or fully booked. We would take this opportunity to advise you to pre-book your USA shipments as soon as possible in order to be certain of your space on board via our sales department.
